We joined our merry band in the planning stages for a small attack, the first in a war they'll quickly learn is against a foe that's vastly different than previous encounters.
Rick and Co. returned from The Hilltop with enough food for a month. He had to sell the battle to the Alexandrians. The Ricktatorship took a step back for a vote, like it was November (I wonder if they'd vote for Trump?).
Morgan said they needed to talk it out. Um, this is Negan, Morgan, he's not one for talking. On a related note, Morgan gets more points for being the one killed by Negan.
Rick had the usual Rick approach. He said they needed to kill all of The Saviors. He said not everyone has to kill (looking at you, Morgan), but they all will still need to live in Alexandria and accept the bloodshed as a means to an end.
Meantime, love was in the air, in varying degrees.
Carol and Tobin shared cookies and a kiss. And folks thought Richonne came out of nowhere? Puhlease.
Abraham packed up to go on the mission. Rosita told him he needed to give her a valid reason to do so, to which he lovingly told her "I used to think you were the only woman in the world and you're not." Awwww, Hallmark sentiment right there and a breakup fit for Abraham.
Tara said she loved Denise. The doc said she'd tell Tara the same when they returned. They also shared a kiss, but no cookies.
The Alexandria War Party included Heath, Glenn, Carol, Rick, Rosita, Abraham, Michonne and Maggie, among others. The latter said she felt obligated to go since she brokered the deal with Gregory.
At least one won't make it back from the eventual big battle in a few weeks. Several others likely will die in what will be failed large-scale attack on The Saviors. Negan isn't expected to make an appearance for four more episodes, so there's still a lot of trouble ahead.
Glenn famously tasted Negan's bat, Lucille, in the comics. I think it's too obvious and given Glenn is basically immortal, I think it will be someone else and would be angry if he died that way. My current Top 3 candidates to bite the barbed wire bat are Maggie, Morgan and Abraham.
But that's all for later. This week, the quest was to kill off a Savior outpost, retrieve the captured Hilltopper and return to joyous applause and merriment before coming home with a cow and some oats or something.
No one on the "good guys" died this week, of course. But we did see some interesting moments.
Page 2 of 2 - Glenn was torn while taking out people in their sleep and showed his emotions after his first kills on the show. He then stared at a wall of pictures featuring Lucille victims. The foreshadowing has been strong with Glenn, but again, I think it's all swerves.
Gabriel took a step toward finally accepting this new world. He told Rick he wanted to make good on his teachings. Gabriel later killed a wounded Savior after giving a prayer for the lost soul.
Everything went according to plan. That's if you discount the ending, when Carol and Maggie, who argued over the pregnancy and danger, were taken hostage by a pair of surving Saviors. The group held a Savior up for trade.
This was another brutal episode with a lot of blood and it was uncomfortable to watch at times, given these are still humans regardless of being "good or evil." A lot of nameless Saviors bit the dust, much like red suits in Star Trek. It's only going to continue to get darker until the finale, when we'll be left with a big shock.

Carol returned to her Soccer Mom roots, passing out cookies after foraging for acorns to start the show. It was one of those happy moments and we know how those end…
Speaking of Carol, she did have a moment of sadness when Rick told her they needed to fight. For a brief moment it appeared she wanted to forget things, to have a family, but that's not happening…
Best scene of the week: Rick punching a Walker head made to look like Gregory's decapitated melon. Ethan, the Hilltopper, said The Saviors are out there, but they have nothing on Rick. We'll see how he and Negan are more similar than different…
Ole Negan has much to be angry about. His scout team was blown up by Daryl and now the majority of his people were wasted by the Alexandrians. He's going to be extra ornery when we finally meet him…
It's going to be sad when Tara loses Denise…
It's going to be sad when Rosita dies and Abraham mourns his ex by hitting on another woman…
Morgan earned a reprieve over the past few weeks, when Carol and the group refused to rat him out for their fight prior to the walls falling down. His luck will run out eventually…
