Joey Feek loses cancer battle

Her husband and music partner Rory Feek, 50, took to his blogging account and shared the news of her death. They met at a songwriters night at Nashville's famed Bluebird Cafe, married in 2002 and lived on a farm in rural Pottsville, Tennessee, about 45 miles south of Nashville. Joey Feek sang lead and her husband, known for his sideburns and blond flattop, provided harmonies on such traditional country songs as "That's Important to Me". "She is in heaven".

Despite intensive treatment and surgery, the cancer spread to her colon, and in November, the devout couple asked fans to pray for her healing and "God's will". The pain has ceased.

"From the time she was four years old, Joey had been singing Dolly's songs and dreamed of one day meeting her", Rory, 49, wrote. Although the tune never made it on an official Joey + Rory album, "In the Time You Gave Me" was now of huge emotional significance. "There have been too many handsome moments to count or even begin to share".

"Joey and Rory, I've loved you for years", said Parton.

Through the latest post, the grieving husband described her final moments and how as much as it hurted not be able to be with her anymore, he just wanted Joey to stop suffering and feeling the pain she had felt for a long time now. They were nominated for a Grammy Award this year for "If I Needed You". Saying goodbye was hard, he wrote, but her memories would stay with him and their children.

Last October, Joey announced that she was no longer undergoing treatment, choosing to return home to her family, rather than have any more chemotherapy.

"Joey will still be with us", he wrote.

According to posts from This Life I Live, Joey Feek will be laid to rest in the backyard of their farmhouse in Columbia, Tenn.

Joey and Rory had baby IN in February 2014. "Thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the Feek family".

Joey's family, Russdriver and I gathered around Joey's bedside to watch the movie "Hope Floats" with her. "The hospice nurse came again this morning and said Joey will most-likely only be with us for a few more days.at the most". He said that although it is hard to think about going home without Joey, he knows that's where she'd want them to be.
