Happy 10th Birthday, Twitter!

Micro-blogging social media site, Twitter, is ten years old today.

Within four years, by 2010, Twitter was already boasting of 50 million tweets being sent on the platform each day. But the message is familiar: It thanks Twitter users for connecting on the site every day, for a decade, about the things they care about-from the personal to the political.

In a video looking back at its milestones, Twitter celebrated hashtags like #BlackLivesMatter, #with Malala, #LoveWins and #BringBackOurGirls - all of which sparked global conversations about social change, securing the platform's place in history books.

The company rehired Dorsey for a second stint as CEO last summer, and he signaled his resolve to make Twitter profitable by laying off 336 employees, or 8 percent of its workforce.

Twitter increased the Direct Messaging limit from 140 characters to 10,000 characters in August 2015, allowing users to chat at length privately - one-or-one or in a closed group.

NEW YORK (AP) - Happy birthday, Twitter. Complicated stuff! These rumors were of great interest for the users who want to express their feelings more expressively.

It is insane to think about, but there are teens that probably don't remember a world without Twitter. Shareholders are keen for Twitter to do something to draw more users into its network, and the change in Tweet length was one such idea that was seriously considered.

It was 2007 before the hashtag made its appearance on the platform, and the retweet, which was created by users, became an official Twitter feature in 2009. However, ditching the character limit now would turn Twitter into something less than unique and more conventional, like other social media sites. He mentioned further that the character length for a tweet won't exceed more than 140 character limit.

At the same time, Dorsey pointed out that users often share screenshots of text on Twitter, in part to get around the character limit, according to a report by the Tech Crunch.

Ultimately, Twitter is a fabulous service for what it is - quick and short communications, aimed at sharing information with the world.
