BENGALURU: City-based financial analyst Chaithra Bhat's blog Style A Pastiche was listed amongst the top 15 Indian bloggers to predict trends for the year 2016. It boasts of 45,000 followers on Facebook, close to 6,400 on Twitter and 5,000 on Instagram.
Bengaluru's love for fashion is ramping up with a bunch of bloggers who live, breathe and write about living stylishly .
Says Bhat, "The following and blog traffic have tripled over the past three years. I'm working with brands much more than I used to when I started off in 2008. Bengaluru is being watched by top brands because of its mixed population and high rate of immigration every year."
Fashion blogger Nilu Yuleena Thapa, who worked as an ad operations specialist in Yahoo, blogs under the title BIG hair LOUD mouth (BHLM), which has close to 27,000 followers on Facebook and 21,000 on Instagram. "Bengaluru may be known as an IT city but it's also home to umpteen fashionable people who follow the latest trends and dress amazingly well. My blog got its due recognition, when in May 2015, BHLM was ranked ninth amongst the top bloggers across the globe." Thapa, who has now taken blogging as a full-time profession in the past one year, after starting out in 2012. While the ecosystem is vibrant for fashion blogging in Bengaluru, the platform comes with certain limitations that with time will find resolutions. Plagiarism is one of them as Namita Gautham who blogs at Take A Bow says.
"For a fashion blogger to be noticed, it all boils down to having the time and resources to create beautiful stories." Keeping the content relevant and fresh is of utmost importance, say bloggers. "Product reviews and photo shoots on a daily basis can become dreary . So one needs to really have the passion for blogging to make this a success," says Bhat.
Added to this is the fact that Indian markets and brands are just opening up to the concept of working with bloggers, a system that will ta ke its time to find its way . "With increasing reach for me now the challenge now is to create rich meaningful content for BHLM that will resonate with the city's fashion lovers," says Thapa.
