We love travel blogs. Not just because we're travel bloggers ourselves, but also because travel blogs are a new way to research holidays, vacations and world trips. No longer do we as travelers have to wait for the next guidebook to come out in two years.
We can now visit our favorite destinations and enjoy up-to-date information from people who have actually been there. We can be inspired by families who drop everything to travel, learn about how couples can stay together on the road 24/7, and even read about people who are able to travel with disabilities.
The world of travel blogging is vast and there are literally thousands of blogs out there, but after spending the past seven years reading hundreds of different ones, we've come up with a list of our favorite ten. If you need some inspiration, information or just want a good laugh, check these out!
1. yTravel Blog:
What makes this blog so inspirational is that they've taken their two adorable girls, Kalyra and Savannah, around the world for the past six years and their stories are incredible. If you ever thought that having kids was an excuse for not traveling, you should visit yTravelBlog and then seriously consider traveling with children.
2. Curb-Free With Cory Lee:
Talk about inspirational. Cory Lee manages to travel the world in a wheel chair! His life goal is to visit every continent including Antarctica (possibly the least wheelchair accessible destination) and he's well on his way. His blog inspires others with disabilities to get out there and experience the world. Go Cory!
3. My Tan Feet:
This is a blog that we personally draw inspiration (and sometimes envy) from on a regular basis. Yeison and Samantha live a wonderful life in Costa Rica and they travel the world as well. Their blog is a great resource for not only travel in Costa Rica, but also how to make money from travel blogging. Their monthly income reports are golden!
4. A Cruising Couple:
Good friends and fellow TravelPulse contributors Dan & Casey run this ultra-popular travel blog. They see the world and mix adventure with a dash of class and they've put together a great blog that is definitely worth following. They're also just two of the nicest people we've ever met and you'll fall in love with them when you start reading their stories and looking at Dan's incredible photography.
5. The Broke Backpacker:
Our blogging colleague Will Hatton has a great blog and, like us, he likes to visit some of the craziest places on earth. He recently went to Venezuela where he was no longer "the broke backpacker." His tales from the country are heartwarming and thrilling as he explains how he became a millionaire when he crossed the border due to the currency crash there.
6. NOMADasaurus:
Another great travelling Duo, Lesh and Jazza are currently in Mongolia doing something that we wish we had done when we were there. They're buying a horse each and with little to no riding experience, they're going to attempt to trek around the country on horseback! If that doesn't sound adventurous enough to you, they're traveling by land from Thailand to South Africa!
7. The Planet D:
Our friends and mentors since the day we started blogging, Dave & Deb are Canada's adventure couple and they are one of (if not THE) most successful couple blogs on the internet. They're both very kind and down to earth and Deb's awesome writing, coupled with Dave's professional photography, make this one of the best blogs to follow.
8. OneStep4Ward:
This is actually the blog that motivated us to start our blog in the first place. Johnny Ward has built an online empire from this once humble personal online journal. Today he inspires others to follow in his footsteps with Motivational Mondays and great travel articles.
9. Nomadic Samuel:
Another one of the greatest blogs online, Nomadic Samuel and his partner in crime Audrey Bergner have two of the most popular travel blogs on the web. Where they really shine is on their increasingly popular YouTube Channel where they record their trips and share them with the world.
10. Goats On The Road:
Is it bad form to put ourselves on this list? I don't know but I have to say that we like ourselves! Check out our blog for information on how to earn money on the road and turn travelling into a lifestyle. Your trip never has to end, and we can teach you how to extend it... indefinitely.
